Woman gets 15 years for killing infant daughter

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis County woman who killed her infant daughter by shaking, squeezing and slamming her has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/WUhxc1) reports that 33-year-old Latoshia Washington was sentenced Friday for the August 2010 killing. She entered an Alford plea in November on second-degree murder charges in the death of 11-month-old Jewel Washington. The plea means Washington did not admit to the killing but acknowledged that prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction.

An autopsy showed that Jewel suffered internal injuries to her organs as well as brain injuries.
