Service awards presented to firefighters

The Cole County Fire Protection District recently held its 2012 annual service awards banquet. The annual event is to show appreciation to firefighters for their years of service and dedication to the district.

Nine firefighters were recognized for giving 170 years of service to the district.

The combined years of service of district personnel are more than 1,100 years.

District officials said this shows the commitment to the district by its personnel in the aspects of training, call response and the rewards of helping others in their time of need.

The following firefighters were recognized for years of service:

• Five years: James Feltrop, Travis Graham, Kyle Petty and Matt Prenger

• 10 years: Eric Berendzen

• 15 years: Chris Hammann

• 20 years: Alan Braun

• 30 years: Steve Braun

• 40 years: Wayne Hammann and Steve Cearlock

• Firefighter of the Year: Justin Braun

• Officer of the Year: Steve Barnes

• Special Recognition Award: Kyle Petty and Larry Benz

• Outstanding Community Service Award: Larry Barnard and Steve Cearlock

The Cole County Auxiliary was also recognized for its continuing support of the district through its funding and support of firefighters.
