Salvation Army falling short of goal

The Salvation Army needs Jefferson City's help.

"We still need to raise $94,000 to meet our Tree of Lights campaign goal to fund critical, year-round programs such as the Center of Hope homeless shelter, food pantry, clothing services, youth character-building programs and others," said Maj. Richard Trimmell. "We depend on the generosity of people to support the work we do to make this community a better place to live."

He said, "The goal is high, but so is the need."

Cole County Sheriff Greg White, a Salvation Army advisory board member, considers the agency an anchor in the community.

"Their work is critical to the well-being of our area, and it is assuring to know that local dollars are used locally," White said.
