Dixie Hall, State Employee of the Month in Missouri for December 2013.

Just as her fellow adult protective community workers, Dixie Hall has worked to maintain a safe environment and treatment for people in need.

Hall was nominated for the State Employee of the Month by supervisor Helga Werth-Morgan because, "she has overcome obstacles with remarkable perseverance to accomplish extremely difficult tasks."

Hall is based in Jennings with the Missouri Department of Health Senior and Disability Services.

She has taken extreme measures to get essentials services to individuals who need them, even if they don't see it.

In some case, individuals have let their health or home reach a threatening condition.

"Dixie approaches very problematic tasks and situations with a great amount of courage, and she engages and convinces reported adults as well as other agencies, such as law enforcement and medical providers, to take the necessary steps for a safe solution," Werth-Morgan said. "She has a passion for helping vulnerable adults to live a life in safety and with respect for their rights."

Werth-Morgan said it was important to shine a spotlight on the adult protective community workers' bravery.

"When they go out into the community to investigate hotline reports involving vulnerable elderly and disabled persons, there is always a chance that they might find themselves confronted with deplorable and sometimes dangerous circumstances," she said. "They are challenged to find a solution to keep the reported adults safe and to keep themselves out of harm's way as well.

"Dixie Hall is an excellent example."

The State Employee of the Month is selected by the State Employee of the Month Selection Committee from among nominations submitted by the 16 state departments and some elected offices. The six committee members also are members of the State Training Advisory Council.
