Falcons, Comets to play for title

LINN - It's going to be the Blair Oaks Falcons and the Fatima Comets playing for the crown in the Linn Tournament.

The top-seeded Falcons advanced to Saturday's 3:30 p.m. championship game with an easy 70-38 win against fourth-seeded Linn on Thursday night.

The Falcons led 15-10 after one quarter and stretched it to 37-23 at halftime. They then blew the game open by outscoring the Wildcats 23-8 in the third period to lead 60-31 going into the fourth quarter.

Seth Eskens led Blair Oaks (5-1) with 18 points, while Kory Franks had 15 and Logan Bax added 11.

Jesse Wiggins paced Linn with 10 points. The Wildcats (3-2) are now off until Jan. 6 when they open the Owensville Tournament against Hermann.

Third-seeded Fatima moved into the title contest by upsetting second-seeded Cuba 69-53.

Zach Buscher racked up a double-double for the winners, as he had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jared Schulte added 15 points for the Comets (7-0) and Tom Zeilman chipped in with 13.

Fatima led 17-16 after one quarter, 35-28 at halftime and 57-43 after three quarters.

In the other game of the night, fifth-seeded Dixon beat sixth-seeded Chamois 65-33.

Cuba and Dixon will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday in the third-place game.
