Doghouse heat lamp blamed for house fire

COLUMBIA (AP) - Firefighters in Boone County believe a heat lamp in a doghouse caused a massive blaze that heavily damaged a home.

Damage to the home in Columbia is estimated at $250,000. No one was injured.

The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A spokesman for the Boone County Fire Protection District says the dog house was on the front porch, and flames traveled up to the eaves and into the attic.

Ten fire trucks responded. Officials say crews were hindered in fighting the blaze because the roof collapsed.
