Drug deal turns into robbery

What was to be a drug deal ended up as a robbery, early Sunday in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, at approximately 3 a.m. officers were notified of a possible robbery that took place on the parking lot of Casey's Convenience store located at 102 Eastland Dr.

The victim, an 18 year old Jefferson City resident, reported that between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. he was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown subject entered the passenger side of the vehicle and began a conversation with him regarding purchasing his cell phone.

The victim advised that the subject, a black male, eventually produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded his cell phone. The suspect then fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

After providing the initial account of what took place, the victim then admitted to the investigating officer that he had arranged to meet the black male at Casey's and was attempting to purchase marijuana. The victim advised that he was in fact robbed of his cell phone at gunpoint. The victim then refused to assist any further with the investigation.
