Holts Summit Christmas parade on tap Saturday

A bigger parade with a local veteran serving as grand marshal is slated Saturday for the Holts Summit Christmas Parade.

The parade, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., will start at the corner of Center Street and Summit Drive, and will travel north on South Summit Drive to Simon.

An increased number of parade units are scheduled for this year with walking units, floats, trucks, cars, the Jefferson City High School Band, horses, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus with candy and goodies for the children and children at heart.

This year's parade marshal is Holts Summit resident Shawn Lee, who served in the U. S. Army for eight years and obtained the rank of staff sergeant. His service tours included Afghanistan and Iraq. Lee received a medical discharge from the Army in 2012, and is now a student at the University of Missouri School of Law, studying to help change laws to improve veteran care.
