Reed moves up to PR post with CVB

The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has hired Jefferson City native Katherine Reed as its new communications manager.

Reed replaces Ryan Burns who accepted a position as public information officer for Missouri's Office of Administration.

Reed has been an administrative assistant at the CVB since May.

CVB Executive Director Diane Gillespie said the organization is excited for the opportunity to promote talent from within the CVB.

"The skills and experience Katherine already brings to the CVB make her a valuable candidate for the position, allowing the bureau to further enhance the experience of our visitors," Gillespie said.

Reed graduated from Helias High School in 2006, and spent six years working at a business center in Columbia while obtaining her bachelor's degree in marketing and management at Columbia College, where she graduated in 2012.

Prior to returning to Jefferson City, she worked as an executive meeting planner for a consulting firm in Kansas City.

As a Jefferson City native, Reed said she has witnessed the community flourish in its development of beautiful attractions and unique businesses. She said she takes pride in having the opportunity to promote her hometown to visitors.

"I am excited to continue learning every aspect of promoting "America's Most Beautiful Small Town,' while fulfilling the CVB's mission of making Jefferson City a top destination for conventions and tourism," Reed said.
