Your Opinion: What are your political genetics?

Dear Editor:

Surely there must be a gene that all liberals (progressives) have which blocks any ability to debate any issue logically and to arrive at any constructive conclusion without attacking the character and/or intelligence of their opponent.

This gene, probably passed down from the Tories, Royalists or Kings Men, also seems to instill a need to be taken care of and/or controlled by an earthly faceless authority that will promise them anything in return for their love, devotion and absolute allegiance. This gene also creates the need to be tolerant and forgiving of any and all deviant and destructive actions and/or lifestyles as required to assure peer approval and to regain a personal feeling of being a good person.

There also must be a gene conservatives have which has been possibly inherited from Boston Tea Party patriots, Revolutionary War patriots or immigrants which came to America to escape a tyrannical government.

This gene has been largely dormant for many years but has become very active in the last four and one-half years. This gene includes an in-satiable desire for freedom from oppressive human and/or occult forces. This gene creates the need to analyze everything such as to assure that any decision result creates an improvement in human initiative to grow in a positive direction regardless of skin color and/or national origin. The gene also creates the need to rely on a higher power (God) for direction and establishment of organizations for charitable needs rather than a faceless bureaucracy. This gene is also concerned about their own and other children's future such that any and all education should be structured to promote the family unit consisting of two opposite cohabit sex parents and to assure the ability to be future financially independent adults.

Then there seem to be a third gene, commonly referred to the independent or moderate gene, which seems to have an undeterminable genealogical past. This gene causes one to avoid any and all conflicts, disagreements, arguments, fights, wars, etc. and to frequently make life choices on celebrity status and/or popularity. This gene creates the most comfortable position in life, one whose answer to everything is "can't we just all get along?"

My question is to the readers of the News Tribune, where do you fit and where do you want to be regardless of the genes you may have inherited or the indoctrination by the institutions you attended?
