The Missouri Highway Patrol marine operation wants to remind boaters planning to go to this weekend's Lake of the Ozarks Shootout boat race of some rules they'll need to follow.

The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday near the Hurricane Deck bridge.

Boating traffic will be restricted to no wake, idle speed from the 31.5-mile mark to the 36-mile mark of the main channel due to the event.

The no wake, idle speed restriction will begin 30 minutes before the event starts each day and will continue to be enforced up to 30 minutes after the last race of the day.

The race course itself will stretch from approximately the 33-mile mark to the 34.7-mile mark on the southwest side of the main channel.

Boaters wishing to enter or exit coves blocked by the race course during the event will be allowed to do so when troopers or other authorized event personnel signal safe passage.

Authorities said every attempt will be made to minimize inconvenience to boaters.

Anchoring will be allowed in the designated spectator area on the northeast side of the main channel. There will be event volunteers on the water to assist spectators in locating the designated spectator area.
