Blair Oaks wins first-ever golf district

EUGENE - In just the program's second year of existence, the Blair Oaks golf team is headed to sectionals.

The Falcons won the Class 2 District 4 title Tuesday at Redfield Country Club.

The Falcons shot a 325 and held off Eugene (332) and Southern Boone (336).

Kory Franks was the medalist, as he shot a 2-under par 70. Blake Lammers of Southern Boone was second with a 73 and Tanner Elder of Blair Oaks was third with a 74.

Blair Oaks, Eugene and Southern Boone all qualify for the sectional tournament Monday at Norwood Golf Club in Hannibal.

Other Blair Oaks finishers included Jordan Eichholz (13th, 85), Dylan Burnell (19th, 94) and Corbin Singer (24th, 100).

Finishers for Eugene included Drew Geritz (sixth, 76), Ryan Doerhoff (10th, 83), Cody Shaw (11th, 86), Jeremy Evers (13th, 87) and Austin Russell (24th, 100).

Walker Kesterson was sixth for Southern Boone with a 77. Teammates Lucas James (17th, 91) and Hayden Nichols (20th, 95) finished in the top 20. Those three along with Lammers qualify for the sectional meet. Zach Ancell finished 32nd for the Eagles with a 109.

California finished in seventh place (398) and was led by Tyler Elliot who finished tied for 15th after posting an 88. Curtis Lehman was 22nd with a 97. Elliot and Lehman qualify as individuals. Stevey McAdams (27th, 105), Connor George (31st, 107) and John Wolken (35th, 115) round out California's finishers.

Connor Muenks was Fatima's high finisher. He shot an 80 and tied for seventh place to qualify as an individual. Other Comet finishers included Tyler Laughlin (27th, 105), Carson Kramer (29th, 106), Zackery Bradley (37th, 117) and Zachary Buscher (37th, 117). The Comets shot 408 as a team.

South Callaway's Garner Rudroff finished 26th after posting a 104. Other Bulldogs included Jacob Smith (43rd, 123), Devon Bunting (45th, 145) and Caleb Sconce (48th, 164). The Bulldogs shot 536 as a team.

Versailles finished 10th with a 553. The top finisher for the Tigers was Rebecca Yoder who shot a 118 and finished in 40th place. Other Tigers included Trenton Miesner (42nd, 121), Wade Decastro (46th, 156) and Travis Reger (47th, 158).
