Your Opinion: Goal of gun control is disarming people
Sunday, April 21, 2013
Did you see on April 9 where President Obama ferried several of the Newtown parents who lost children in the massacre to D.C. to lobby Congress for gun control? He brought these people to Washington on Air Force One at a cost of $180,000 per hour. They could have flown commercial first class for one tenth that cost. In fact, it is not much of a drive from Newtown to Washington, D.C. I don’t have a problem with these people petitioning government for the redress of grievances, but by doing this President Obama forces the American taxpayers to foot the bill for their lobbying efforts.
Pay attention here, folks. America’s freedom is under attack. Places like Connecticut and Colorado are passing more severely restrictive gun laws while almost in the same breath they are admitting that these laws would have little if any effect on whichever catastrophe is being highlighted today. Did you get that? They admit that these laws would not have prevented the catastrophe, but they are going to pass the laws anyway. Does that make any sense to you?
Instead of doing things that would deter gun-related violent crimes, they want to take away the guns from everybody. All the while our Marxist president desires to make these local gun laws the law of the land and is whole-heartedly supporting the UN’s attempt by treaty to remove our right to bear arms.
This is not about protecting our children. It is about disarming the American people.
I submit to you that the liberal/progressive movement of today has a serious agenda to remove your Second Amendment rights. Always keep in the back of your mind President Obama’s pledge that “If Congress won’t act then I will.” He has already issued 23 gun-related executive orders. Some of them are quite dubious. Let’s examine that pledge.
“If Congress won’t act”: Congress is comprised of representatives of the people elected by the people to enact legislation that the people desire. But the president says that if the Congress won’t do what I want done, then I will do it by executive order. The president of these United States is not elected to rule as a king would rule. He is elected to administer the laws enacted by “We the people.”
