Prep Baseball: Linn takes first at Linn Invitational

LINN, Mo. - The Linn Wildcats took first place in the round-robin Linn Invitational that wrapped up Saturday.

In their first game of the day, the Wildcats rolled to a 19-7 win over the Owensville Dutchmen.

Ryan Mantle went 5-for-5, including a two-run home run, and drove in six runs for the winners.

Also for the Wildcats, Alec Shoop had four hits and two RBI, Jake Mebruer and Kyle Nolting added two hits and three RBI apiece, Ben Brandt contributed two hits and one RBI and Cameron Laughlin chipped in with two hits.

Blake Snyder got the win for Linn.

Linn completed a perfect 3-0 tournament with a 7-6 win over Vienna in the nightcap.

Mantle picked up the win, striking out eight over five innings. He also collected three hits.

Mebruer smacked three hits and had four RBI, and pitched two innings of relief.

Laughlin and Tony Mebruer both had two hits.

Linn (5-4) travels Monday to Dixon.

Hermann took second in the tournament, Vienna placed third and Owensville rounded out the field.
