Jefferson's Natalie Vance (3) watches as her crossing pass glides past Lebanon goalkeeper Brittni Morgan to set up Eden Hoogveld of the Lady Jays for a goal during Tuesday's game at the 179 Soccer Park.

The first three shots on goal for Jefferson City were right at the Lebanon keeper.

Nos. 4 and 5 found the back of the net. Eight others followed as the Lady Jays posted a 10-0 victory Tuesday night against the Lady Jackets at the 179 Soccer Park.

"This should be a big confidence booster for the girls," Lady Jays coach Matt Stacey said. "Especially after Monday night (a 2-1 victory in PKs at Moberly), where I felt like we played exceptionally well, but we just couldn't find the back of the net."

Jefferson City had scored just three goals in regulation in its first three games this season. But Stacey said he could sense better things were coming.

"We've created plenty of chances this season, we're just not always finding the right part of the net to hit it at," he said. "We're doing a lot of good things on the offensive end."

Jefferson City scored five times in each half. The Lady Jays got on the board a little more than 10 minutes into the contest on consecutive shots by Alyssa Shouse and Eden Hoogveld. Natalie Vance got an assist on Hoogveld's score.

Megan Martens made it 3-0 midway through the half, scoring after a long rebound. Hoogveld picked up her second goal about four minutes later on a corner kick by Kaley Ruff. Vance got the last score of the opening 40 minutes to make it 5-0 at intermission.

"There were some nice goals in this game," Stacey said.

Lebanon had one good chance to score very early in the second half, but the shot bounced off the crossbar.

Jefferson City made it 6-0 two minutes later when Sarah Luebbert got a goal off another corner kick by Ruff.

"It's always good to be dangerous on set pieces," Stacey said.

Ruff scored to make it 7-0 with 30 minutes remaining, with Vance scoring on a breakaway about four minutes later.

Ruff got her second goal with 23 minutes left before the game ended because of the mercy rule with seven minutes remaining on a goal by Bailey Hall.

It is the first 10-0 victory in 11 years of coaching for Stacey.

"We played every single player we dressed," he said. "And it was the most playing time for a lot of them so far this season."

It was the first shutout of the season for Jefferson City. Becca Sturgess started in goal for the Lady Jays and was replaced by Megan Foster for the final 30 minutes.

"We always want a shutout," Stacey said. "I think our backline has played very well this season and it was nice to get a clean sheet."

Due to injuries, Lebanon played three different keepers in the game.

Jefferson City (3-1) is back in action Thursday at Quincy (Ill.). The junior varsity game will start at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow around 6:15 p.m.

In Tuesday night's JV game, Jefferson City was a 2-0 winner against Lebanon.
