The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association honors just keep rolling in for Brent Vogel.
The Central Missouri senior who was honored Monday as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Vogel (Helias High School) claimed the decathlon title at the Texas State Bobcat Open over the weekend, posting the top NCAA Division II score with 7,274 points.
Vogel won three portions of the decathlon, taking first in the long jump, 110-meter hurdles and 1,500-meter run. His performance earned him an automatic bid to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May.
This comes after winning the national championship in the heptathlon during the indoor season, and he was named the National Men’s Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA.
