Missouri Guard updates history report

After 11 years of deployments overseas and mobilizations at home, the Missouri National Guard is releasing an updated history of its units' activities.

Last year, Maj. Alan Brown, the Missouri National Guard's command historian, released the first compilation of histories of Missouri National Guard unit mobilizations that were brought on by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

"In the past year, Missouri National Guard deployments have shifted much of their focus to missions in Afghanistan, but also finishing up what we started in Iraq," Brown said. "The missions have continued to vary from security to the ongoing work of the Agribusiness Development and Provincial Reconstruction Teams."

Brown compiled the latest report update with increased help from unit commanders. The report gives the opportunity to highlight the incredible efforts citizen-soldiers and airmen have made in the service of their country, Brown said.
