Callaway Co. Clerk decides to keep expanded precinct at Guthrie

Callaway County Clerk Denise Hubbard will not reverse her earlier decision merging the Round Prairie and Guthrie voting precincts at Guthrie.

Hubbard said her decision was based on improved accessibility for disabled voters and to savings of up to $2,000 per election — an $18,000 savings spread over four years.

Hubbard said she studied driving distances in other Callaway County voting precincts and found the driving distance in the new, larger Guthrie Precinct is not greater than some other precincts — and shorter than others.
