Defense leads Nixa past Helias

The Nixa Lady Eagles not only won the physical battle against the Helias volleyball team Thursday night, but they also came out on top of the mental one.

The Lady Eagles, who seemed to get the best of the big points at Rackers Fieldhouse, used a tenacious attitude to drop the Lady Crusaders 25-21, 25-19.

“Nixa played some incredible defense,” Helias coach David Harris said. “From my perspective, it looked like we had players who thought, ‘I hit that one really well and they dug it, so now I’m not going to stay in the play. I’m going to worry about getting dug and not worry about staying in the play and getting ready for that next ball.’
