Police probe robbery attempt
Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Jefferson City police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred Saturday night.
A 51-year-old Columbia resident told police that he was in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street, where he was going to meet a female that he knew.
He said a black man with dreadlocks and wearing a plain blue shirt and blue jeans approached him and sat in the passenger seat of his car. The suspect then pulled out a black and silver handgun and told the victim to give him the keys to the car.
The victim and suspect struggled over the gun before the victim was able to get out of the car and flee on foot. He had injuries to his face, but nothing life-threatening. Nothing of value was taken.
When officers arrived at about 8:13 p.m., the suspect was gone.
