According to officials at Missouri American Water, Jefferson City's boil order has been lifted. Missouri American spokesperson Ann Dettmer said test results came back Wednesday night showing the system was in good shape.
Dettmer also said the company's automated phone call alert system would not be used to alert customers Wednesday night, because the boil order was removed at nearly 9 p.m. Customers may receive these automated phone calls Thursday morning.

Look at the picture- Love those exposed electrical wires in a damp environment! How about that electrical outlet on the wall to the left with its cover undone? I would imagine electric code would at least specify a watertight electrical box and a covered outlet for a wet location.
Worker has no safety glasses or hard hat. Don't see him wearing any personal hearing protection while working around the loud machinery.
Open pit in the floor is not marked.
Anyone see any other major violations here?
Looks like typical Ozark Engineering / Jefferson City committment to quality.
If Rob and his union buddies worked here, These pictures would look clean and a whole lot more professional, as well as code and safety violations would not exist. Sometimes I think the unions really have a good thing going for everyone.

I was hoping that the area was red-tagged due to the outage and we just couldn't see the tag but I bet you are right. What's the phone number for OSHA again?

Although I was not affected by the outage, I want to say thanks to those employees whose hard work has returned many peoples' water supply to normal. JCLifer, if you were so concerned about the safety issues did you ;contact OSHA? If not, why?

People love to complain but never do anything about it. Whether its a small town, big city, state or governement.

What should complainers do about fixing an antiquated piping system besides give over more of their paychecks?

JCLifer, In the Union we have a very good approch to safety, Safety is job number 1, there is an avenue to make a suggestion, or a comment about safety! If you see something wrong fix it, if you can not fix it, report it, and it will be addressed! If it does not get addressed you could call OSHA, it never has to go that far from my expierience. I do not know what kind of safety program these guys have at American Water? I would hope they would have a good one in place! I would think that Glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots, and gloves on your person as a minimum! I would assume that those panels in the picture are the covers for the opening, and the opening is not deep enough to require handrails! I would assume that the wires sticking out of the box are not HOT, and I assume even though we cannot see the disconnect it is locked, and tagged out with a personal hold off device! Last but not least if we assume these items are correct, it could make an as_ out of you and me! NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING! Rob
