JCPD investigates shots fired call

On Monday at 11:23 pm, Jefferson City police received multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots fired in the area of the 700 Block of Washington and 200 Block of W. Ashley.

Officers had responded to the area earlier for a large group of subjects creating a noise disturbance, however upon their arrival the group was dispersing.

Officers’ investigating the scene of the shots fired located several shell casings that lead them to believe at least two subjects exchanged gunfire behind houses in the 200 Block of W. Ashley, but could not find witnesses who could or would identify the shooters.

The investigation is continuing.

Apparently they can't hit the broad side of a barn so would be better if they use a different weapon. Or they could duke it out but their a bunch of punks and not men so I guess that's out of the question and I'm assuming it's males that did this.

11;23PM and these people are out shooting.... why aren't these people in school or at work or olooking for work, or trying to get in school? Surley not all these people have retired or are disabled Vet's/private citizens? Surely not all these people are so well off that they can just sit around and do nothing but shoot off firearms in the city limits? Hey, I'm all for people doing their own thing, but this isn't what the good life is all about.

Who were those people? Are those people on government assistance? If not then alright...but for thoses that are on state assistance....let's find out why these folks have time to congregate but no time to go to or look for work. Let'ws find why these people have time to disturb the peace, but not get into school. Let's make these people either start doing the right thing or have their benefits immediatley cancelled. Don't wanna hear no crying about racism....cause that ain't got a thing to do with it. I'm sure a few of these people were black, but I also sure there were a few non-blacks as well. Also....what I'm requesting should be the national model and implemented now! Anyone not doing the right thing...should not be getting public assistance, it's just that simple!!!

Why doesn't JCPD put the heat on these thugs and run them out of town? We don't need their kind living in our city.

I'm sure the police want them out of town but how to accomplish that? I don't know. I don't think the police can tell them to leave but if these thugs keep shooting at each other maybe one of them will actually do some damage and they'll pick each othere off one by one. Not a nice thing to say but innocent people could very well get killed because of these creeps.

Thanks to lawyers and courts, simply being gathered in a group or out by yourself, regardless of the time-of-day, law enforcement agencies should not stop you/them without cause. To do otherwise would result in a claim of/or possible lawsuit for racial profiling. This forces law enforcement agencies to take a “hands-off” approach until something illegal occurs. For reasons I still cannot understand, even if a suspect is arrested, they would rather take full responsibility before “snitching” on the others involved. I wonder how many of the acts of violence in Jefferson City are in fact, acts of retaliation for previous wrong doings (sort of a miniature Hatfield/McCoy Feud).

I don't understand the snitch thing either. but it has something to do with a gang rule or something and since they "think" their close and they see it as the only thing to do they keep silent. Plus a snitch can get killed by the other gang members. I learned a few things on lock-up. When I lived in Texas I had more than my fill of gangs. Lots of killings and drive by shootings. More than once I was at a gas station and the place was held up or the "runners" would race in the store, grab beer or what ever and run back out. There was no way the police were able to control the various gangs because there were so many. Crypts, bloods, MM,TS etc and most are prison gangs that do a lot of harm on the outside. The gang activity isn't as bad here but the way it's growing who knows what's going to happen.
