Feds urge Missourians to switch to electronic benefit payments
Monday, October 22, 2012
With less than five months until the March 1, 2013, deadline for all-electronic federal benefit payments, the U.S. Department of the Treasury is urging Missouri federal benefit recipients to make the switch now.
According to federal officials, nearly 100,000 paper checks are still sent out to Missourians each month.
In Cole County, 706 check payments are sent out each month. Checks that will be affected include Social Security, Veterans Affairs, railroad Retirement Board and Office of Personnel Management.
