According to federal officials, nearly 100,000 paper checks are still sent out to Missourians each month.

In Cole County, 706 check payments are sent out each month. Checks that will be affected include Social Security, Veterans Affairs, railroad Retirement Board and Office of Personnel Management.

Federal government throwing USPS under the bus, you can't make this stuff up. Not that 100,000 checks is going to bring them out of their $7,000,000,000 deficit. Never fear, Obama's 2012 budget aims to give USPS $11,000,000,000 of other peoples money to keep the inevitable from happening.

So spelchek do you want the usps to be gone. It should have never been mad a quasi goverment agency it should have just stayed a full fledged federal agency just like the VA and SSA and IRS.

Doesn't matter what I want. Like any viable agency/company those that stay innovative and profitable will survive. If our USPS is bleeding billions out each year then maybe it's time for a DNR. You could leave something on life support forever; but, why would you?

Congresses job is to, US constitution section 8: To establish post offices, and post roads? Do you think it is right for a congressman to be involved with UPS? Why are you blaming Obama when it is Congresses job? This is what privatazation gets us, the Fed xs, and UPSs don't want to deliver the mail they want the cream! Rob

Rob, the budget is called the Obama budget because it is his budget plan. Whether it gets implemented by congress is another thing. If you read closely, I never placed blame on Obama for the USPS's financial woes. I offered that Obama's budget calls for an $11 billion dollar life line. UPS nor Fed Ex have this luxury (unless they donate to Obama).

Give the Feds electronic access to your checking and savings accounts so the feds can deduct the banking transaction fees (taxes) as per Obamacare.

asb 7 months ago

Lifer you may not realize it but the feds, and others, already have that access. The feds are at least legal and managable. And since they're the one WRITING THE CHECKS (sorry) what exactly are you worried about here?

..Grace , you need to go back to civics 101, that is why republicans will destroy this country if they ever really get their hands on the reins! RE$store our Future 110.5 million for political action fund, American Crossroads 68. million, and you b---ch about the Democrats giving money to PACs! If you think the mails going to get hauled by UPS or FEDx you are mistaken, why don't you go join Conner barefoot and watch Netflix! You have to pay for what you get, and you don't want to pay for anything! Until you get the reorganized United States of America, and by then it will be to late! Rob

Snail mail is antiquated and for a long time now. Problem is, UPS and FedEx figured this out a long time ago, USPS did not (and that's their bread and butter). Film cameras are pretty much dead too, see Kodak as proof. Once upon a time they were needed, today they are not and out of business. USPS is headed for the same fate because demand for their product says so. How many more billions should they lose before saying enough?

Actually I pay for Netflicks Rob. I am not surprised that a perpetually unemployed democrat like yourself has such an interest in freebies though. Always looking for tips eh?

Let's see National Federation Association and American Federation of Teachers have spent almost 350 to 400 million on Democrat campaigns and initiatives. The Democrats get their PAC's and eat the unions too. Imagine that.

As for the USPS it is mandatory spending I believe not part of the budget but can have extra budget perks and get appropriations if it asks. The USPS just can't seem to manage under the union restrictions. Pretty simple really more Democrat freebie stuff and social uplifting through government jobs and benefits.

I don't know where you two are coming from? You must be living on a different planet? I just went to the store, and whipped out my good old debit card for an $80.00 dollar purchase. The young lady at the register said my card was declined? Well that cannot be, so I quickly paid with another plastic venue I had in my possesion, then a quick trip to the bank! All is fine! I knew you both were worried due to my recent period of unemploment. It was just a glitch on one of those computer terminals out there on that planet you both are from! I for one, of I hope many will not be paying my Bills on line in the near future or anytime for that matter! There is to much that can go wrong, and like all my new facebook friends sending me email, and you open it up to a Dangerous page, ect. If they cannot figure out how to bill me I guess they just won't get PAID. I could tell you about my transposed numbers on my Walmart card, and my bankruptzy out at Roberta Johnsons 1111 Jefferson St. Wilmington, DE, the Social Security numbers were one digit off? It took well over a year, and Walmart gave my card back, but I don't have that kind of time today to tell all. I trust in God, nation and my Post office, and You both should too, because the world just won't go around if you two had your WAY! More of the Razzle Dazzel of Romneys Trickenometry! Grace I like that word better than DEREGULATE! I like this phrase too! It is EASY to Vote For Obama in 2012, because the more you two post, the more we know what the Romneys camp is up to? Getting rid of the post office today, what are you getting rid of tommorrow guys? Rob

Conner! I glad your back thought you had to go to work this week? I don,t see where those nasty old teachers gave anything, but Bob Perry gave 10Million this cycle and he is an old hiuston Swift boater! Hey I will split the screen and see if I can tell you really how much those teachers gave to Pacs for Obama Rob

Why doesn't the USPS just throw out the union? That would lower operating costs tremendously and give them the ability to make needed changes to make the USPS lest costly to operate.

I am surprised someone hasn't thought of this solution yet.

Thanks Conner glad you asked, Priorties USA Action, that is the democratic pac has raised 50.1 million as of Sept 30, 2012. As of those nasty Teahcers you were refering to they have only coughed up only $ 250,000.00 this cycle as 10/1/2012 you run on back to where you do all your ciphering and do alittle subtracting from those big numbers you just spewed out and prove me wrong. Those Teachers did not even ma ke it on to the big list for Democrats, the 3 PACs we are discussung are,Restore Our Future (R), American Crossroads (R) Priorities USA Action (D) TRICKENOMETRY is trying to catch up with Republicans Today JC Lifer, where would we be without Unions today, and don't tell me they served their purpose 100 years ago, and should go the way of the post office? I was in the Non Union for half of my career, and the only one that made anything was the owner, and Trickle Down did not work there either! Rob

0

JCLifer 7 months ago

So what happened in the USPS? If the owner makes all the dough, they shouldn't need constant bailouts, right?

Boy Rob for someone who says he isn't unemployed anymore you sure seem to be on here all day. As for me I did my 8 hours and was back home long enough to make one comment before I had to go feed the cattle and hook up a baler.

Of course Democrats are screaming now that the chains have been flung off involving private and corporate donations finally the shoe is on the other foot and the unions are having to compete on a level playing field fiscally. As the Wall Street Journal recently reported the unions are in fact under representing their financial help to the democrats. According to them you need to multiply the total on average by about 4 to get near the actual figure. But then that is the Democrat SOP.

I hope the PACs are outspending the Unions and I hope it grows. The Democrats had far too long a time collecting dues and shoveling money to Democrats. Ain't Payback a Bish?

Conner you know what will be the BISH is watching Obama win,or not win and being able to take note of how much it the Republican Donors gave $178 million (R) to $50 million! (D)! I still could not find where you got the figure of $300 million to $400 million from those nasty old TEACHERS! Rob
