Two local businesses have been granted waivers by the Jefferson City Public Works and Planning Committee for the costs of sidewalk construction in front of their establishments.
At the committee meeting Thursday, Midwest Block and Brick and Access Storage were granted waivers totaling more than $17,000 between them. Janice McMillan, planning and protective services director, said the issue was coming to the committee instead of the Planning and Zoning Commission because the actual deferral was granted in 2009 and the matter was viewed as being simply financial now.
