Two doubles teams, one individual qualify for sectionals

The Jefferson City Lady Jays advanced two doubles teams and one singles player out of district tennis tournament action Saturday at Washington Park.

Jefferson City’s No. 1 doubles team of Eden Hoogveld and Paige Smith went 3-0 to take first, defeating the Lady Jays No. 2 duo of Claire Murphy and Kelly Raithel 6-1, 6-4 in the title match.

Kirsten Schmidt of the Lady Jays finished second in the singles competition. Schmidt and both the doubles teams advance to individual sectionals Tuesday in Springfield.
