Two more Red Cross volunteers to deploy

Two American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteers are scheduled to deploy today to New Jersey to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Both volunteers will report to Newark, N.J. A volunteer from Jefferson City is deploying as an emergency response vehicle driver. A volunteer from Columbia is deploying in client case work. They will learn their assignments after checking at Red Cross headquarters.

The local chapter now has 11 people deployed in various areas of the eastern United States impacted by Sandy.

The best way to help those affected by a disaster is with a financial contribution.

This allows the Red Cross to meet the immediate emergency needs of those affected by Sandy and future disasters.

Monetary donations can help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, clothing, clean-up supplies, emotional support and other basic, immediate needs.

Donations can be made by calling the chapter toll-free at 1-866-815-2738 or by going to www.redcross.org.

You can also mail donations to: American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter, 431 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, 65101.

People can also make a $10 donation by texting REDCROSS to 90999.
