Troops, veterans, volunteers recognized for service

The men who inspired the name Operation: Guardian Angel received the celebrity treatment Thursday evening at the annual Veterans Appreciation Night.
Jefferson City High School student Sophia Thomas serves drinks to Angela Wood and Jim Kirby at the annual veterans dinner Thursday at Jefferson City High School.
U.S. Marines Jason Albright, Eddie Palos, Jose Santiago and Blake Watson were part of the squad that saved Fulton-native Tyler Huffman. Unable to attend were Marine Sgt. David Castillo and U.S. Navy Corpsman Jesse Miller, who currently are serving aboard the USS Green Bay.
Albright, Palos, Santiago and Watson were greeted by students singing patriotic songs and waiving American flags as they were dropped off by limousine at the Jefferson City High School cafeteria event.
