Last-minute TD lifts Helias past Hannibal 14-10

HANNIBAL, Mo. - Down 10-7 in the final minute in a road playoff game, the Helias Crusaders had the Hannibal Pirates right where they wanted them.

Last season, it was the Bolivar Bonanza, when Anthony Woodruff caught a touchdown pass with about a minute left to give Helias the win.

Monday night, it was the Hannibal Heart Attack as Woodruff caught a 38-yard touchdown pass with :42.6 remaining as Helias rallied for a 14-10 victory against Hannibal to claim the Class 4 District 6 championship.

"Big players need to make big plays," Woodruff said.

With the win, Helias (8-4, ranked No. 5) advances to the quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Adkins Stadium against Clayton, which topped University City 27-20 to win the District 5 title.
