CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — The Fatima Lady Comets crashed the party last year. This year, they were the featured performer. In just their second trip ever to the volleyball Final Four, the Lady Comets captured the ultimate prize, as Fatima claimed the Class 2 state title Saturday night.

And while that fact might not have been a big surprise — the Lady Comets returned several key contributors from last year’s team that placed second — the way they did it was a huge shock.

Fatima faced the same foe as last year, St. Pius X: Festus, but the result couldn’t have been more different. The Lady Comets were ruthlessly efficient all match, dominating play in a 25-14, 25-19 win.
