BLAIR, Neb. (AP) — The leading maker of the enzymes used to produce biofuels is celebrating the completion of its new plant in eastern Nebraska.
Novozymes says it invested about $200 million in the plant south of Blair that employs 100 people.
The plant produces enzymes that help break down the starch in corn or another feedstock, which is a vital part of ethanol production.
The company is planning to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant on Wednesday. Gov. Dave Heineman is scheduled to attend.
Novozymes, which is based in Bagsvaerd, Denmark, employs about 5,400 people — half of them based in Denmark.
