Local man charged with receiving stolen property

A Jefferson City man is believed to have been involved in the theft of $15,000 worth of wheels, electronics and other car parts from a residence in Callaway County in April.

Brice Walther, 26, of 3216 Wardsville Road, has been charged with one count of receiving stolen property. He was released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the victim saw wheels that had been stolen from him on a vehicle in Jefferson City. A witness stated about a month ago, Walther began storing property in her garage, and it was later determined this was the stolen property.

Mr. Walther Should not have been released previously. This crime would not have occured had he still been in custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Why can they not make them serve their time? Catch and release does not work.
