Jefferson City firefighters battled a house fire Sunday afternoon not far from Adkins Stadium as preparations were being made for the Jefferson City High School Graduation.

According to fire department reports, the blaze at 415 Case Ave. was reported around 3:40 p.m.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were coming out of the front of the house.

All of the occupants had gotten out by the time crews arrived.

The investigation later revealed this was a rental property, and that the renters had no insurance.

The cause of the fire was believed to be electrical, and due to the amount of fire, smoke and water damage throughout the structure the home was considered to be a total loss.

Officials also reported police officers had been called to the scene a short time before the fire for a disturbance, but it was eventually determined that the incident was not connected to the fire.
