WARRENTON, Mo. (AP) — Four children are recovering from injuries after an eastern Missouri accident involving a 15-year-old driver.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 15-year-old Chassiddy Allen of St. Louis was driving eastbound on Interstate 70 near Warrenton Tuesday night when the 2000 Dodge Neon went off the left side of the roadway, struck a median cable barrier and overturned.
Allen had minor injuries. Three boys in the car were also hurt. They included an 8-year-old and 10-year-old with moderate injuries and a 5-year-old with serious injuries.
A relative of the youngest victim told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was recovering well. She said there was an adult in the car and that Allen had a permit to drive and was coming back from a trip to Jefferson City.

I'm glad that nobody is dead and hope the injured get well soon, but I also gotta ask this. What adult in their right mind allows a 15 year to drive on I-70 at anytime? In my mind that is ASKING for an accident to occurr. I-70 is tough for an experienced driver to negotiate....a 15 year old has no business behind the wheel of vehicle on this or any other Interstate Highway.....WWTAT?

We must not be thinking about the same Interstate 70. I drove on Interstate 70 and Interstate 80 when I was fourteen. It's no more difficult than dodging the drivers who don't know how to use traffic lanes on Missouri Boulevard.

Our son drove on I-70 when he had his permit, with his dad sitting next to him of course. We never got to places where there were 4 or 5 lanes going one direction, and there weren't a large number of others in the car, but he had to learn to drive on the interstate sometime. It was safer than the horrible winding two-way roads we also had him practice on.
