Chamber presents annual report to city
Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Amid questions on the reporting practices of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, the organization submitted three years worth of reports and documentation to the city before giving its annual financial report.
At the City Council work session Monday, Chamber President and CEO Randy Allen presented the 2011 report of chamber activities and expenses, but not before addressing issues from the public.
“There’s been some comments and concerns in the press and the public about lack of documentation,” Allen said. “We’ve had documentation all along.”
Allen then handed a CD to Mayor Eric Struemph with what he said were reports and audits from 2007 through 2010, as well as 15 other reports.
“It’s in our city clerk’s hands, so it’s officially public,” Struemph said.

So, why didn't they provide it on time as contracted?

Probably not much to report.

Two names. Tim Stallman and Charles Gaskin. These gentlemen contacted officials, wrote letters publicly requesting information and noting the shortcomings of the city and it's COC, and they no doubt vote. The vote is something we kill and die for, and we value it the greater of Tim and Chuck's efforts. Yet nobody can deny the amount of real power these guys wielded simply by participating in their government. Their methods are ignored in many ntaions, illegal in some, punishable by death in a few. I don't know if either Tim or Chuck participate in these forums, but the forums are another rather new method of participation; more soapbox than anything, but still influential. Politics and money can cheapen the vote that so many have died for; so to carry your interests, to claim a stake in your life, to begin to swing with at least some of the power of money, participate. and somebody had better read all those reports . . .
