Democratic women citing Limbaugh in fundraising

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Some female Democratic candidates are capitalizing on Rush Limbaugh's derisive comments about a law school student to raise money for their campaigns.

Limbaugh already has apologized for describing a student supporting an insurance mandate for contraception as a "slut." But his words have been repeated and emailed to thousands upon thousands of people by Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, who represents Limbaugh's childhood home of Missouri.

McCaskill's campaign says she has far exceeded a goal of raising $10,000 in a day from Limbaugh's comments.

Congressional candidates in contested races in Minnesota and California also have cited Limbaugh in fundraising emails sent this week to supporters. Their message is that a donation can help them stand up for women's rights in Washington.
