Dear Editor:
We all can agree that the murders that took place in Chardon, Ohio, by the 17-year-old misfit were so tragic. It is the person that pulled the trigger that caused this, not the gun.
The AP article in the March 1 paper on page A6 went on and on about the type of weapon used (which went from auto loader to revolver). Whether the pistol was stolen, bought legally or borrowed is not the issue. The point is the kid murdered three kids, the gun did not do it, the misfit did it!
I can already foresee the mob mentally rushing for a demand for more laws to regulate guns. And new or additional laws will do what to prevent a kid from a broken family from committing this type of crime? Nothing!
This occurrence is the result of a decaying society that tolerates misbehavior at all levels. Music that demeans women and celebrates violence is "popular." We have day care centers in high schools now.
No folks, it's not the gun, it's the people. We have met the enemy and it is us.
