Cole County hires consultant for zoning plan

The Cole County Commission on Thursday approved a contract for a consultant to draft a county zoning plan, but it wasn’t a unanimous vote.

Western District Commissioner Chris Wrigley and Eastern District Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher voted in favor of the contract while Presiding Commissioner Marc Ellinger voted against.

Ellinger said he had concerns the contract with White and Smith LLC of Kansas City did not specifically say they would be attending public meetings to discuss the plan they were developing.
