Mizzou takes center stage in Columbia film fest

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — The True/ False Film Festival can count on even more help from the University of Missouri as the national celebration of documentaries returns to Columbia starting today.
The four-day festival features writers, directors and producers discussing their movies with the audience after each screening. Scheduled films include “Undefeated,” which just won the Oscar for best documentary feature and was co-directed by a Missouri graduate.
Some of the most popular films will be shown on campus at Jesse Auditorium and the university-operated Missouri Theatre. And the Missouri School of Journalism is hosting a simultaneous academic conference on the intersections of documentary film and journalism.
True/False has previously included venues at Stephens College. But its growing popularity forced organizers to rely on larger auditoriums at the state’s flagship university.
