Cantwell takes second in shot put prelims

EUGENE, Ore — Christian Cantwell is nearing a return to the Olympic games.

Cantwell (Eldon High School, University of Missouri) qualified for the finals in the men’s shot put at the United States Track and Field Olympic Trials on Saturday.

Cantwell is one of 12 competitors to qualify for today’s finals at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Vera Neuenswander (Jefferson City High School) will compete against 26 other competitors in the women’s pole vault finals beginning at 3 p.m. today.
