Robbery victim dies; murder charges filed

O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) - Two men are now facing murder charges following the death of a man who was repeatedly stabbed during a robbery attempt in St. Charles County.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/LMfLmC) reports that 54-year-old Joseph Givens of St. Louis had made contact with the two suspects on Craigslist. Police say they agreed to meet through a Craigslist "alternative lifestyles" encounter in O'Fallon on June 8.

Instead, the suspects allegedly robbed Givens and stabbed him in the head, neck and upper torso. Givens died on Friday.

The suspects, 20-year-old Peyton McAnelly and 18-year-old Avery Cornuelle, both of O'Fallon, were charged Friday with second-degree murder. They were previously charged with attempted robbery and armed criminal action. Both are jailed on $200,000 bond and don't have listed attorneys.
