Columbia police are investigating the death Friday of a former Fulton man who was found dead in his Columbia apartment with tape over his mouth and nose.
An autopsy is being performed on Derrick Lamont Berry, 28, according to his father, Daniel M. Berry of Fulton.
Berry said he went to his son’s Columbia apartment Friday after he was unable to contact him. He said he found his son lying face down on the apartment’s floor.
Latisha Stroer of the Columbia Police Department confirmed police are working a death investigation at The Greens apartment complex in Columbia.
Berry, who said he was interviewed by Columbia police, said “Police suspect foul play. I have no idea why anyone would want to kill my son. He was a good man. He was very religious and very active in church work.”
