Coari set for trial Aug. 8 for two Auxvasse murders

Ryan Christopher Coari, accused of murdering an Auxvasse area man and his daughter last September, is scheduled to go on trial on Aug. 8 in Callaway County Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge Christine Carpenter was appointed on Monday to serve as a judge.

The case had been before Judge Jodie Asel, but assistant public defender Mary Joe Smith filed a motion asking for the removal of Asel from the case and the case be transferred to Boone County.

Asel originally ruled in favor of both motions. But after Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson filed an objection to moving the case to Boone County, Asel amended her decision to include only the change in the judge and did not rule on the change of venue.
