Mexico H.S. pitcher picked by Royals

Day 2 of the Major League Baseball Draft had a little bit of local flavor to it. Eight players who played either college or high-school baseball in the state of Missouri were drafted Tuesday in Rounds 2-15.

One of them might even be familiar to local fans.

Hunter Haynes, a left-handed pitcher out of Mexico High School, was drafted in the 13th round by the Kansas City Royals. Haynes, the 403rd overall pick, pitched his Bulldogs past the Blair Oaks Falcons 8-0 in the Class 3 sectionals May 22.
