Westminster adds 11 new academic programs

The dean of faculty at Westminster College is adamant about the school being committed to offering prospective and current students a "high-end liberal education."

Recent additions to Westminster's academic offerings should keep them on track toward that goal, said Carolyn Perry.

This fall, the school is adding 11 new academic programs to its catalog for the 2012-13 school year. The new academic emphasis includes a revamped honors program, dual-degree programs in nursing and engineering, majors in sports management, exercise science and business communication, minors in public health and security studies.

The school will also offer expanded internship opportunities for students, instrumental music courses and a transfer agreement for International Baccalaureate for high school students.

Westminster officials met last fall to find ways to attract students to the campus with little-to-no academic ramifications.
