Jefferson City gets $50K from county for emergency sirens

The Jefferson City Council is set to approve an agreement with Cole County on Monday to accept more than $50,000 for emergency siren funding.

The city approved a $299,928 contract in March with Meyer Electric Co. to purchase and install 12 new sirens.

Part of the contract included offering the same price, $25,000 per siren, to the county. In June, the County Commission opted to offer assisted funding for new sirens in communities within Cole County.
