Highway Patrol recruiting troopers

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the 96th Recruit Class scheduled to begin training Jan. 16, 2013.

Application deadline is March 4.

To be eligible, candidates must possess a minimum of 60 college credits, two years of federal active duty military service with an honorable discharge, or two years of POST-certified full-time law enforcement experience at the time recruit training begins.

Local test location is General Headquarters, Jefferson City, March 23-24, 26 and 28.

Starting salary for a trooper is $3,034 per month while in training; $3,217 per month after six months; and $3,508 per month at two years of service.

Testing includes: written exam, physical fitness for duty assessment, polygraph exam, background investigation and oral interview board. After a conditional offer of employment, the applicant must successfully complete a medical exam, psychological exam, psychological interview, drug screening and final review.
