Joyce and Jim Simpson smiled as they peered through their binoculars Saturday at a couple of eagles who were soaring above the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks near Willmore Lodge in Lake Ozark.

On the outside deck of the historic site with more than a dozen other visitor, not only did they smile because of the sight, but also because they were excited to be attending Eagle Days 2012 for the first time.

"We come to take care of her sister, who lives near Iberia, and visit throughout the year," explained Jim Simpson, who said he and his wife are residents of Stockbridge, Ga. "The last time we were up at this time of year, we read about Eagle Days in the newspaper, but found out we had just missed it. We wanted to make sure we came this year in time to attend."

The couple also enjoyed eagle watching below Bagnell Dam and attending the live presentations by members of the World Bird Sanctuary at Osage National Golf Resort in Lake Ozark.
