Bus driver charged with molesting child

A Morgan County school bus driver was charged Wednesday with statutory sodomy and child molestation involving a 12-year-old in an incident that took place in August in the Stover area.

On Wednesday, Tommy J. Estes was arraigned in the Morgan County Associate Circuit Court and charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation. His bond was set at $100,000.

According to Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the Department of Family Services reported to Morgan County detectives on Dec. 27 that a school bus driver allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old child in the Stover area.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, the offense took place between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 on a school bus. The victim was allegedly the last student on the bus. At the time, classes were not in session at the Morgan County R-1 School in Stover.

School officials were contacted and advised of the allegations on that same date (Dec. 27), the Morgan County Sheriff's Department noted.

Estes, 44, of 18221 Rush Road in Cole Camp, also was picked up for questioning and brought to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office. After questioning, Estes was arrested and held on formal charges at the Morgan County Adult Detention Center.
