Helias girls repeat as district champs

ELDON, Mo. — Last season, the Helias Lady Crusaders captured a district basketball title for the first time in a decade. Friday night, they may have started a streak in the other direction.

“It means a lot to be able to win it,” Helias senior Alex Heislen said after the Lady Crusaders defeated the School of the Osage Lady Indians 59-41 in the Class 4 District 10 Tournament title game. “We had a lot of adversity this year and to come out on top and to be able to keep going means a lot.”

With the victory, Helias advances to Wednesday night’s sectional game against Borgia at Washington High School. Game time is 6 p.m.
