Mo. county steps up investigation of overdoses

WASHINGTON, Mo. (AP) - Another rash of drug overdose deaths is leading to greater scrutiny in eastern Missouri's Franklin County.

The Washington Missourian (http://bit.ly/ywPq0b ) reports that Franklin County narcotics officers will take charge of investigating all fatal overdoses of heroin or prescription drugs in the county.

The decision comes after three more recent deaths tied to heroin or overdoses of other drugs.

Authorities say two men died from apparent drug overdoses at the same home in Pacific earlier this month. A third man died of an overdose in Union on Feb. 5.
